The Supreme Court of India on Thursday, June 16, asked the Uttar Pradesh government to not carry out demolition activities “except in accordance with law” and gave it three days to demonstrate how its recent drives had followed procedural and municipal laws.

In an another news, UN Special Rapporteurs condemned Home Demolitions in India, as Collective Punishment of Muslims.

No new demolitions are being carried out anymore but UP government must:

1. Explain how recent demolitions didn’t violate any procedures.
2. Compensate the victims for financial losses.
3. Investigate and punish the Saharanpur Police for in-custody beatings and torture of suspected protestors.
