The leaders of local communities in Morocco have been renting/leasing public places to random folks to gain profits illegally. This has nothing to do with Parking Meters. Whether you’re a citizen or a tourist, you are most likely forced to pay some random guy wearing a safety vest or jacket pretending they’re watching over your car without your permission. The city officials illegally run contracts with random guys “ mostly drug addicts or ex convicts “ in every corner or street to guard vehicles and force people to pay a fee, regardless how short or long you park. it’s Against the law in Morocco to rent or use a public property “ streets, sidewalks,..” to make money. Drivers are fed up with the abuse from these fake guards forcing them to pay. And when people refuse to pay, they get attacked or their car get scratched or damaged.

So why are the authorities not dealing with the mess ? Simply because it's too big of a mess and those in power bribe some politicians and cops to continue this scam, that will probably not want all this income to disappear. 

Awareness has been risen amongst different communities about the illegality of the this situation, but more changes need to come to stop these scammers and make them pay for their actions.

Our only hope is Moroccan citizens get together and refuse to pay for free public parking. Say No to scammers, Do Not Pay for Parking in Public.
