Stop Parking Charges in Holme Valley North, Honley, Meltham, Brockholes

Stop Parking Charges in Holme Valley North, Honley, Meltham, Brockholes
The Issue
Attention Honley Meltham and Brockholes
Our village centres are about to face an unwelcome guest: PARKING CHARGES.
Imagine having to pay every time you visit the library, shops, cafes or other businesses
We can't let this happen.
The proposed parking charges by Kirklees Leader and Cabinet threaten local businesses by potentially reducing the number of people shopping and visiting there.
These villages thrive on their local economy. The introduction of parking charges could deter customers from visiting, leading to decreased footfall and revenue for these businesses.
In similar situations elsewhere, such as in Morpeth, Northumberland where parking charges were introduced in 2013, there was a reported 12% decrease in footfall (source: Morpeth Herald). We cannot let this happen to Honley, Meltham and Brockholes
The proposed parking charges not only affect our business owners but also many residents who rely on these services for their daily needs.
This decision seems more like desperation than an initiative that benefits the community.
We urge the Cabinet to reconsider this decision and explore other avenues for generating funds that do not harm small businesses or inconvenience residents.
Please sign this petition if you believe in supporting our local economy and maintaining Honley's Meltham's and Brockholes's vibrant community spirit.
