Stop Overdevelopment on Major Mackenzie – Protect Ladykaren Crescent

Stop Overdevelopment on Major Mackenzie – Protect Ladykaren Crescent
The Issue
We, the residents of Ladykaren Crescent and surrounding Vaughan communities, are calling on the City of Vaughan to pause and reconsider the proposed subdivision at 1078 Major Mackenzie Drive West (Draft Plan 19T-26V001). The subject lands are currently zoned Agricultural and Environmental Protection. The site includes Natural Heritage System.
This is not just one development it is part of a combined corridor expansion exceeding 600 homes, which will dramatically transform our neighborhood.
Why this matters:
🌳 Loss of mature tree buffer and wildlife corridor
🚗 ~4,800 additional daily vehicle trips
🚸 Increased safety risks for children and pedestrians
🏫 430+ additional students with no clear school capacity plan
🌿 Environmental risks not fully assessed
🏞️ Overuse of already limited park space
Residents support responsible growth—but this proposal, in its current form, is too much, too fast, and not properly planned.
We are asking the City to:
Conduct a full cumulative impact study
Preserve the tree buffer and natural heritage lands
Reduce density to match neighborhood character
Address traffic, safety, and infrastructure capacity first
Complete all environmental studies BEFORE approval
👉 Protect our community. Protect our future. Sign and share.
