Congratulations! After barely 3 weeks and nearly 60,000 signers of our petition, our commitment to ending pelvic exams on patients while under anesthesia got the attention of State Senator Antoinette Sedillo Lopez! She reached out to us and met in person with A'magine (petition author) yesterday to discuss getting a bill passed in New Mexico!

At first she was skeptical, as most people are. After just a little research and a lively meeting, Senator Lopez saw that this practice is a reality, and is committed to drafting the strongest bill yet in the U.S. We hope our New Mexico bill can be a model bill for other states who have yet to pass laws banning intimate exams on people of all genders without consent. We are thrilled to work with Senator Lopez on drafting the strongest bill possible that provides a wide range of protections. The process has already begun. We are working on getting this issue on the docket so that A'magine can testify and show a legislative cut of At Your Cervix to the legislature in the interim session. 

We are truly heartened by this immediate response and action. Our voices matter and by signing our petition you helped make this happen! We will be tackling other states soon, so please stay with us as we work for all 50 states. WE CAN DO THIS!
