Stop Netflix Autoplay Advertisements

Stop Netflix Autoplay Advertisements
The Issue
On Netflix browsers with up-to-date software, it is now impossible to stop scrolling without seeing a preview. Pause on any video tile for more than a second, and Netflix immediately begins playing trailers and clips from the show. It doesn't matter if you're queueing up the 20th episode of the 4th season- you're going to see a preview, and there's nothing you can do about it. On some platforms, you don't even have to start scrolling. The moment you log into the application, Netflix begins playing their latest-and-greatest trailer.
But as Netflix continues to release more and more hard-hitting shows, their unstoppable previews have gone from annoying to triggering. '13 Reasons Why' was at least fictional. Netflix's new shows, 'Making a Murderer' and 'Don't F**k with Cats' include content that is graphic, sickening, and real. It plays unprompted for people who have no interest- and it can't be turned off.
Netflix should make all auto-play previews optional. But at the very least, there needs to be user-selected options to disable advertisements for frequently-triggering content like murder, sexual assault, animal cruelty, and suicide. This is especially important if this content is real.
