With reference to the recent document uploaded to the PEDW casework website dated 24/02/2025.

EXNOTE002 - Confirmation of Procedure request for Further Information and Suspension 

Pennant Walters Trecelyn wind farm, the inspector has highlighted some points that require more information. So extension time has now been added to the process. 

However the applicant Pennant Walters claims it can 'provide enough power to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 13,135 homes[1]. There is a link on their website page that is supposed to back up this claim, with a calculation, so it is clear to the public how they have arrived at this figure.

This is important as the developer is using this claim as one of it's selling points. 

They also claim the wind farm to be 20MW. However in their documents https://trecelyn-windfarm.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Chapter-4-Project-Description_Draft-ES_V4-Final.pdf  (8) / 40 in search box - The developer states:- 4.5.6 

The preferred choice of wind turbine to be installed is the Vestas V117-4.2 MW' Turbine. 

So 16.8MW in total for 4 Turbines, (not 20MW). The turbines also consume electric from the grid when in service mode ( no - wind days ) to keep them viable. There is no information available as to the turbines annual consumption.

So now is a good time for us to email the inspector to ask for this information to be made public!

I am writing with reference to the proposed Wind Farm at Trecelyn by Developer Pennant Walters DNS reference:- CAS-02114-J9X4S6 for Pennant Walters Trecelyn Wind Farm.

The applicant has not provided any calculation as to how they have arrived at the claim of 'providing enough power to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 13,135 homes[1].  As the associated link on their website home page https://trecelyn-windfarm.co.uk/  does not work.

With this in mind I request the applicant is approached and asked for the following information;-

A calculation of the 13,135 homes supplied that is ( clear, straight forward and easy to follow ), including a reference to the average annual home consumption figures that they are basing their supply figures on, I.e. The Ofgem annual figures for a medium home? And what percentage of the supply to the homes is produced by wind and other energy such as gas i.e. 20% wind 80% gas?

Clear details on the proposed wind turbines total output value / size in Mega Watts and whether this is at source or to the grid because of transmission losses?.

The annual electric consumption of the turbines to keep them viable / serviced on no-wind days?

As you will understand this important information is missing and the public are currently in the dark on these points. 

I respectfully request this information to be made available to the public, (without blacking out any important points), through the PEDW casework website along with the other details you have highlighted in your document uploaded on Monday 24th February 2025.
