Haven’t looked at this in a while as the Superintendent changed his mind on CEP.  BUT I DO find it interesting that since then this petition has continued to get signatures calling for his termination or resignation.  Now we are at 1077 signatures.  With the recent proof of his deception about the cost of SFA, his directly causing the MPSD to be under investigation for violating student rights, and completely ignoring a 47 page scathing survey response showing a less than 25% approval rating by staff…I’m not shocked that people are still signing it.

Jim Feil, MPSD superintendent unilaterally decided to turn down federal funding that would allow ALL MPSD students to have access to free breakfast and lunches in schools.  This federal program is fully paid for by taxpayers; funds have already been collected and allocated so this would be NO ADDITIONAL COST TO MANITOWOC TAXPAYERS .  47% -57% of students in our community qualify for free or reduced meals.  Others are very close and struggling.  Turning down this program results in hungry kids, shaming kids, lower test scores, and continuing struggle for food insecure families.  The money we as taxpayers have already contributed will now benefit some other community while ours suffers.  Feil then lied on several media platforms stating that this will save us money (false), and that we can use saved money to pay teachers (false).  He did not consult the board or community prior to this decision.  Despite the board unanimously voting in favor of the CEP program, Feil went AGAINST this decision and decided by himself that hungry children in our community are less of a concern than the possibility that a child whose parents can afford lunch might get a free one under CEP which he deems “a waste of taxpayers money”.  He knows about this petition and he’s laughed about it on tv multiple times.  He thinks we the people are a joke and the president of the school board is now supporting this colossal mistake and agreeing with him.  He’s stated he refuses to resign so we must insist the board remove this destructive man from or schools.  For these reasons he has shown he is not acting in the best interests of our children or community.  Demand Stacey Soeldner and the MPSD board terminate Feil immediately!
