Stop MPs claiming energy bills on expenses

Stop MPs claiming energy bills on expenses
The Issue
BP and Shell, to name a few, have made billions in profit and with yet another energy hike coming in April time this will inevitably boost their profits yet again.
Tory MPs had offered "help" by introducing a temporary windfall tax and a £400 grant for households. How does a temporary windfall tax change the long term effect, quite simply, it doesn't and the £400 grant per household does not even scratch the surface. The introduction of a permanent windfall tax of these companies to slash energy bills is required to help alleviate the financial burden to many families who are struggling and being FORCED in to poverty.
The tories have shown time and time again that they prioritise the profits of the obnoxiously rich over that of the general public's own living standards and, bearing in mind there are some tory MPs who have financial interests in said companies, they have clearly not made an impartial decision regarding the windfall tax based on everyone's best interests overall, but rather that of their own selfish interests. We won't mention the "donations" (or should these be deemed as bribes?) from energy companies to the government...
Whilst it may be an MP's "perk" of the job to be able to claim expenses, I find it nothing short of crass, given the current energy crisis, that some MPs have claimed energy bills on their expenses, with some claiming their energy on more than one property, and not to mention one certain, Mr Nadhim Zahawi attempting to sneak through a claim over £5,000 to heat his stables on his expenses. This is NOT acceptable.
I think MP's claim far too much on their expenses in any event and, as a taxpayer, I object to my money subsidising their meals, Amazon subscriptions, heating stables and swimming pools etc but especially their energy bills in this current climate when I'm very much struggling to pay my own bills, as are the majority of the general public.
TAXPAYERS MONEY IS PUBLIC MONEY AND THEY ARE DIPPING IN TO IT LIKE ITS THEIR OWN BANK ACCOUNT.
I work full time but I'm living as though I have no income at all and I am struggling to pay my own bills, which is now going to worsen again due to the further energy price cap rise. Like many others, due to the fact that my outgoings are now currently exceeding my income I am having to "top up" any shortfall with my credit card. This is a lose-lose situation. The hike in interest rates means its also unfavourable for me to be using a credit card in any event but I do not have a choice.
I am beyond angry that my money as a taxpayer is being used by MPs who receive very healthy 5-6 figure salaries and are in a position to pay their own energy bills and still have more than plenty left over to live on, whilst at the same time, they've had the audacity to tell us to effectively "suck it up and get used to the increase". It's insulting, insensitive, immoral and a total misuse of money from the public purse.
I, as have the vast majority of the general public, been put in this position through no fault of our own which simply boils down to corporate greed.
MPs wages far outweigh the average and they can afford to pay their own energy bills. Its about time they "suck it up" and pay their own bills rather than thieving from the taxpayer! I would ask anyone to sign and share this petition if they agree that MPs should pay their own energy bills and not be allowed to claim these on their expenses, especially at this present time during the cost of living and energy crisis. The public purse should not be treated as their own personal bank and is nothing more than an abuse of their position.
The tories have the opportunity to windfall tax these energy companies which will greatly ease the burden, and they have CHOSEN NOT TO. Why should any of us be forced in to poverty because of that bad decision? Why are they allowed to continue to claim all these expenses, fail in their duty as public servants by not assisting the public as a whole and putting that burden back on the working class/most vulnerable to foot the bill.
The expenses system, especially at this very moment in time in the midst of the cost of living and energy crisis, is in desperate need of review as the amounts they claim is nothing short of ignorance, arrogance and very much open to manipulation, when many of us can't afford to heat our homes or eat. These include many innocent children and elderly suffering because those in power are only interested in lining their own pocket, assisting rich companies who "donate" (bribe) and claiming anything and everything possible under the guise of "expenses". It's wrong!
Businesses have every right to make a profit but NOT to the detriment of others.
I know this will not fix the cost of living/energy crisis but every saving to taxpayers money would assist.
