Stop Misogynists from Changing the Historical Texts of the Bible so they can Oppress Women
The Issue
Whether you are a Christian or not a Christian, the integrity of historical texts for the sake of accurate history ought to be preserved. If we fail to oppose the dramatic changes happening to English Translations of the Bible in order to oppress and silence women, our daughters will pay a heavy price. The translators of the ESV, NLT, and NET have all changed Genesis 3:16 by adding their own words to make it seem like women are cursed with the desire to be "contrary" (ESV) to their husband or to "control" (NLT, NET) their husband. This is a complete corruption of the original meaning and intent of the author, who intended to say that women will have a desire "for" or will want to "turn toward" their husband or will be "dependent on" their husband.
The arguments for these errant translations have been soundly refuted. However, because translation teams for the ESV are entirely made up of men, they have absolutely no motivation to do the right thing on behalf of women.
The academic community ought to be in an uproar over what is happening. This is intellectual dishonesty on the highest level. Their aim is to manipulate the most important historical book we have as humans in order to control women and make them feel like their creator has made them faulty, somehow broken whenever they speak their own mind.

Why is this an urgent situation? The ESV and NLT are becoming more popular everyday. My daughter asked me about getting a study Bible and was told to get the ESV by some guys in her college Bible Study. What am I to do as a mother? How can I protect her from this?
Whether or not you agree or disagree with Christianity, do you really want a huge portion of our daughters growing up believing that somehow their voice is a curse from God? No! We must stop them now. Make it known that what these translators have done is wrong and manipulative for their own personal desires.
