Dear friends and supporters,
Last Monday, on 19 August, 2019, Prime Minister Pashinyan announced that he is going to give green light to the mine at Amulsar. This was followed by strong public resistance. Two days later the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Environment to find whether the recently released ELARD-TRC report (independent assessment of the Environmental Impact Assessment-EIA of Lydian) includes an evidence that there is a need for a new EIA for the operation of Amulsar mine under the Armenian legislation. The Ministry of Environment is expected to announce its conclusion by September 4. By then, every kind of public pressure can be very helpful to impact the government's decision.
Those of you who are Diaspora Armenians, may take an action by sending letters to the High Commissioner for Diaspora Armenians and urge him to pass your message to the Prime Minister that the present EIA has to be annulled. You can find a draft letter at this link, which you can simply copy and paste, and e-mail to the High Commissioner.
