A message from Amy Carter:
"My husband has been an inmate at the Warren County Jail since November, and his experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. He was brutally attacked by fellow inmates, resulting in a head injury that was inadequately treated by the medical staff. They simply glued his wound shut and sent him back to his cell without any further care or follow-up.
He is now living in fear, unable to eat or sleep properly. Despite repeated requests, he has not been allowed to see a doctor for further evaluation or treatment. This is not just about my husband; I believe there are many more inmates who have been forgotten and denied proper care within these walls.
This situation is deeply personal for us as we have a 10 year old daughter waiting at home for her father's return. Every day she waits, unaware of the harsh conditions her father endures daily.
The U.S Constitution's Eighth Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishment which includes denying prisoners access to necessary medical care (source: American Civil Liberties Union). Yet it seems that Warren County Jail is failing its duty of care towards its inmates.
We urge the relevant authorities - The Kentucky Department of Corrections and The Bowling Green City Commission - to investigate these claims urgently. We demand better treatment for all inmates including adequate medical attention when needed.
