STOP Mains of Rhynie Forestation Project, Aberdeenshire

The Issue

Owner Kevin Taylor (of Taylors Industrial Services/Cairnton Estates) has applied to Scottish Forestry for a grant to plant a commercial forest of nearly 500 acres - mostly Sitka and mixed conifer on viable farmland with rich archaeological potential, adjacent to the village of Rhynie.

Presented as a multi-functional 'woodland creation' to help meet net zero targets through carbon sequestration - this proposal is, in reality, an exploitative business venture, aggressive in its scope and scale and insensitive to community, wildlife and archaeology.

With a turn of focus towards Agroforestry in Scotland, Scottish Forestry have an opportunity to encourage genuine woodland creation, woven into farmland. Now is the time to acknowledge that it's not about large plantations - and tree planting at all costs.

LET'S MAKE THE CHANGE with Mains of Rhynie.

We need to push back against this proposal NOW!

Please sign our petition and say NO to the WRONG TREES IN THE WRONG PLACE FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.
