Thank you for your support and more than 4,000 signatures in our efforts to stop Lyons Township High School District 204 from selling 70 acres of wooded land to the highest bidder, no matter the impact its development could have on the elementary school, park and residential community that surrounds it.

Now, the La Grange Patch is reporting the LTHS Board may have violated Illinois' Open Meetings Act as it discussed a potential sale in closed sessions for months before publicly announcing its intentions to sell in December 2022.

The property remains for sale at $55M, a number LTHS arrived on after commissioning a single appraisal of the land as re-zoned for industrial use. LTHS says it won't accept less and that it's still soliciting bids at the industrial price.

Time is running out. Tell LTHS to stop this sale and start over again with input from the communities most impacted by redevelopment.

Here's what you can do to help:

1) Forward this petition and the Patch report to any friends, family or neighbors in the area to keep them informed.

2) Join the Neighbors of Pleasantdale Facebook group for up-to-the-minute updates on our efforts.

3) Let LTHS know this move is wrong. Call the district at (708) 579-6300, email LTHS Superintendent Brian Waterman at bwaterman@lths.net, or message the district at its property sale website.

You can make a difference. Remind LTHS that public lands should be handled with the public good in mind. Say no to industrial development next to schools, homes and parks. Say yes to community involvement every step of the way.

Thank you!
