EMERGENCY! This is our last chance to save our deer and all N.Y.S. wildlife under the D.E.C.s control!
I wanted to bring an important development to your attention. DEC is proposing new regulations for deer hunting in Suffolk County. These regulations represent a dramatic increase (over 300%) in the number of deer that will be allowed to be killed over the existing regulations. This is separate from the Deer Damage Permits which were the regulatory vehicle for the USDA cull. This is a way to address the perceived deer problem in Suffolk, but does not involve the tactics allowed by the cull. You should look at these and please submit comments – the deadline for comments is December 8th . The link to make comments is in the first link. The regulations are intended to be in effect for the next Suffolk county deer season in January 2015.
I don't think I need to explain how devastating this could be if it goes through. Everything we've worked for could be wiped away and this will set a horrific precedent in all wildlife management. My law firm, Young/Sommer can not do anything more legally to help because of their large unpaid bill. So please, ask everyone you can to vociferously reject this outrageous increase in the number of deer that can be killed.
The first link is to the notice of the proposed regulations, within that link are links to the regulations themselves:

The second link is to the existing regulations where you can compare the existing levels of deer tags:

Thanks very much,
Wendy
