I've just recently learned that the City of York is going to adopt a garden area they call verges as a highway in order to construct a bike lane on land that is not theirs using the same pesky s.228 legislation they used to adopt my drive.  If you're interested click here.

I am currently struggling through the planning process trying to get my drive stopped up using s. 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act. Last night I went to a council Planning Committee meeting where I had to endure listening to woeful misinformation without the ability to correct any of the nonsense.  If there was a council award for false narrative, they would win by a landslide.  

The Planning Committee had to decide to approve or refuse planning permission for drive gates near the entrance of my drive in conjunction with a 247 stopping-up order.  However, the Councillors had to make their decision based on the information in the Planning Officer’s Report, again, that was full of misleading/plain wrong information.  For example, would anyone believe the council has been maintaining a drive, which is included in my title deeds, on a road that has a ‘private road - no trespassers’ sign, on an ex MoD estate without providing a shred of evidence?   Yet they all slurped up the misinformation and made their refusal, yes they refused me, with an uninformed bias based on a toilet paper worthy report.  At the cost of the taxpayer.  Can you tell by my face I find this unacceptable?
