We have checked today and there are only 4 representations that have been received by Licencing regarding the review of the licence at Colebrook Park.   This is a seriously underwhelming level of support that does not tally with the vociferous complaints about the event.  This level of support will be noted by the licencing panel who will have direct evidence from 4 people who were disturbed by the five events over the summer and their decisions could reflect this low level of people affected.  It is hard for the Environmental Protection Team to convey that there is a serious problem of disturbance that attracted 54 separate household complaints but only four were sufficiently disturbed by the events to make their own representations.  If we are asked whether residents were made aware of the licence hearing – the answer we have to give is Yes they were.  There is relatively little weight given (none to be exact) to anonymous complaints and the panel will have to work on what they have in front of them as the sole evidence on which to make the decision.

So, if a successful outcome is what you want then you have to step up and be counted.  If you do not support the application, then you will have little cause for complaint if the result is not what you expected and you will have to be reflective in how the council dealt with the issue and put up with the consequences without recrimination to officers who have worked hard on the case without your support.
