STOP LAGOONA BAY / WATERSIDE (REZONING) NIGHTMARE IN HUNTERSVILLE, NC
The Issue
- PETITION AGAINST LAGOONA BAY DEVELOPMENT (REZONING) IN HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA! PLEASE SIGN AND SAVE OUR COMMUNITY!! SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!
This ridiculous proposal will be a traffic nightmare for our small town on a two lane road and we don’t want this here!! Not only will it affect Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson which are all intertwined in the Lake Norman area, this will affect everyone traveling to the area and using I-77 north of Charlotte and 73/ Sam Furr Rd. There are only two exits in Huntersville and exit 25 is already a daily nightmare!
This proposed HORRIBLE PLAN on 263 ACRES WILL BE FIVE TIMES BIGGER THAN BIRKDALE:
(The proposed area is currently 14 separate parcels of FARMLAND along Sam Furr/73, Westmoreland Rd., McCord Rd. and Black Farms Rd.)
- 201 Townhomes
- 320 apartments in 4 story buildings
- 250 single family homes on 40 & 50 ft lots with Rear loaded garages
- Mixed Use area with 112 apartments, 300 condo units, and 210,000 sq ft of retail space (that’s larger than the average Walmart)
- 36,000 sq ft Convention Centre
- 200 Room Hotel
- 42 acre lagoon that will be for the residents that buy a home there and another 500 people that will pay $10,000 plus fees of $600/month. A PRIVATE COUNTRY CLUB with a fake beach and a big pool.
The 25 Acres adjacent to the proposed development on the bottom right hand side that’s outlined in PURPLE was purchased by the developer Jake Palillo and his family members in 2020/2021 (public record) and he is currently building his own family compound there for ‘life in the country’ and they won’t have to worry about fighting the nightmare traffic daily!!! Very SELF SERVING!!
This needs to go by the airport so people have something to do when their flight is delayed at CLT!!
PLEASE help me continue to fight this and oppose the rezoning for this horrible plan!
The current zoning and the town’s 2040 plan calls for only 340 single family homes on .70 acres each and it needs to stay that way for low density housing on a two lane country road with schools that are already overcrowded!
