The Issue

I'm a resident and passionate animal lover in Los Angeles who is deeply disturbed by the current threat to LA's animal services and shelters. The increasing concerns are about Karen Bass' proposed budget cuts, which harm not only animals, but dedicated workers. Animals in these shelters can't speak for themselves. They rely on us for their safety, their care, and their very lives.

It's heartbreaking to see that a critical lifeline for our city's homeless animals is being slashed. According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year, and Los Angeles undoubtedly accounts for a significant portion of these figures. In addition to putting the lives of thousands of creatures at risk, these cuts threaten the jobs of numerous dedicated animal service workers.

This is about lives, jobs, and our shared ethical responsibility towards these voiceless creatures. Urgent action must be taken to prevent closures, to improve the quality of care for animals, and to help our local shelters carry on their work more effectively.

It's time to stand-up and add our voice. We are demanding Karen Bass to rethink and revoke her decision. Let's stop her from reducing budgets and closing LA Animal Services and Shelters. Please, sign this petition today to ensure that our city continues to care for its most vulnerable residents.
