KMPDC -Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council  has sent an official response & promised to look into the matter of violations of mental health patients' rights in rehab centres.

This is to confirm receipt of your official response copied below from the KMPDC CEO's office today. Thank you for considering this grave matter promptly with expediency. 


In the coming days, I look forward to a meaningful engagement with the leadership & management of KMPDC on the matter at hand. 

  • That of Gross Violation of my Patient's Rights & Medical Malpractice in the hands of Mediva Wellness Centre & Dr.Pius Kigamwa, a Consultant Psychiatrist in 2019.

Other Kenyans whose mental health patients' rights have been grossly violated in the hands of other mental health institutions are also copied herein. Namely:-

Also copied herein is Ms.Joan Thuo -The Career Coach who raised public awareness of the violation of her brother's patients' rights by Chiromo Hospital Group & her 2 other siblings who organised the forceful involuntary hospitalisation of their brother against his consent.

We are all keenly following as we seek for STRAIGHT ANSWERS! 


As we work towards accelerating mass public awareness of Mental Health Patients' Rights in Kenya, we would like to see Justice prevail.

Notably, in 2016 a politician Peter Chege, Gitothua MCA, also reported violation of his rights & forced involuntary hospitalisation by Chiromo Hospital Group..as detailed in the article below. 


Please Note: 

Moving forward, the actions by KMPDC & our deliberations will be shared widely with ALL Kenyans copied herein & beyond in the Diaspora as a Landmark Case Study of how KMPDC deals with such matters.


For the purposes of Transparency, Accountability & the future posterity of our great nation of Kenya. 

 

It is my Firm Conviction that this is a Definitive moment in our History in Kenya. 

We would like to see a Public Interest Litigation & a Patients' Rights Bill presented in Parliament for consideration by our law makers/politicians some of who are also copied herein. 


It is about time the Voices  of Mental Health Patients got heard ! 


Their experiences in the hands of Psychiatrists & Mental Health institutions across this nation must be listened to.


A Taskforce to investigate Involuntary Forced Hospitalisations must be formed at the earliest convenience to investigate the human rights abuse cases that go unreported or are ignored.

To All Kenyans who are copied herein, You are not here per chance at all! Generations yet unborn are counting on us to make laws that will protect their mental health!

Let this be recorded for the generation yet unborn, that a people yet to be created shall praise the Lord.(Psalm 102:18)

We Thank God for the Official Response from KMPDC today. It heralds the beginning of good things to come!

Therefore the outcome of this consultative & legislative process will set the pace for our neighbouring East African countries i.e.


Rwanda. Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania & ultimately for Africa in the areas of Mental Health  & the Health Sectors as a whole. 

Our Heavenly Father & Creator does hear  our prayers  ..     

This matter is very close to His Heart  because as Human Beings we are His Most Treasured Possession, the Apple of His Eye  & our names are engraved on the palms of His Hands  ! (Psalm 17:8 & Isaiah 49:16)     

As we said before...

TUMEINGIA UWANJANI!..The Game Has        Begun in Ernest! Na Game Imewaka       ! 

Our Living God is the Master of the Game!

The Battle for Human Soul belongs our Our God (1 Samuel 17:47) He is positioning various players strategically   in our Mental Health Sector for his Glory & Honour!.

                                               
 Our God is troubling the Waters   in our Nation  as the Spirituals sing   below!

 

  • We are the Sons & Daughters of God,  We gotta stand up & make it loud..  Just like God told Pharoah let me people Go!
    We are a  new Generation from the ones who have come before! 
    He is calling us to FREEDOM! Let me People go! go!  God said He's gonna Trouble the Waters!

Knocking is a Christian Principle..(Matthew 7:7) 


We shall keep Praying fervently   & Knocking   on every door. 


Until our voices  are heard & our Laws are enforced to protect our Patients' Rights! 

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY

It is our individual responsibility to assert our patients' rights even if the laws in our country are not being enforced at the moment.

Kindly take the time to fully understand your fundamental Patients' Rights..as it is not about mental health patients rights only. 

 SHARING IS CARING  Our Mental Health  is Paramount & our Patient Rights must be Respected. 


Ignorance is Not Bliss at all! Even God hates ignorance...
