URGENT: Stop Meta(Any Social Media)-Enabled Investment Fraud: Demand Full Recovery for Canadians Devastated by Crypto Scams, Stock Manipulation (Pump-and-Dump), and Fake Celebrity Ads.

I, one among the thousands of victims of a coordinated, global fraud operation facilitated by Meta Platforms, encompassing both securities market manipulation (specifically tickers like OST, CLEU, PTHL, JYD, PHH, SDM, JAGL, QMMM, SKBL, DOGZ and over 40 others) and crypto investment scams, demand that the Canadian Government and its financial authorities immediately launch an investigation and take decisive enforcement action against the perpetrators and their platform enablers.

Over the past year, thousands of innocent Canadians have been targeted by sophisticated, cross-border fraud, collectively losing an estimated $10 to 15$BILLION USD  of their life savings. Globally, these schemes have cost victims between $80 and $100 billion USD.

The Crisis: Trust Exploited, Losses Ignored

These scams prey on trust through sophisticated online campaigns:

  1. Celebrity Deception: Scammers use fraudulent investment advertisements on social media platforms, especially Meta (Facebook/Instagram), that illegally feature the likenesses of respected public figures—including former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, current Leader of the Opposition Pierre Poilievre, former Bank of Canada Governor and  Current Prime Minister Mark Carney,  CEO of WealthSimaple and  with logos of legitimate Canadian companies like Wealthsimple.
  2. The Hook: Victims, believing the promotions are legitimate and endorsed by trusted faces, are lured into WhatsApp chats. Here, fake "financial advisors" advise them to pour their life savings into specific, manipulated stocks.
  3. The System Failure: Many victims used registered Canadian brokerage platforms, believing their funds were safe under Canadian regulation. However, when the price collapses occurred, victims found themselves abandoned. No Canadian authority—not the police, not financial regulators, and not even legal firms—is taking responsibility for investigating these crimes or recovering the stolen assets.
This lack of protective infrastructure makes Canadian investors a primary target for global fraudsters.

Our Demand: Protect Canadians and Pursue Justice

We are mobilizing Canadians and global victims to sign this petition, urging the Government of Canada, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), the RCMP, and financial regulators (CIRO, FINTRAC, OSC, TheCSE) to implement these critical measures immediately:

  • Establish a Federal Task Force: Create a dedicated, coordinated federal body with the sole mandate to investigate these multi-jurisdictional stock-manipulation schemes and coordinate restitution for all verified victims.
  • Enact Platform Accountability: Introduce strong legislation making Canadian financial institutions and trading platforms legally accountable when large-scale money laundering or fraudulent stock promotions occur through their systems, mirroring consumer protection frameworks in other G7 countries.
  • Strengthen Regulations: Implement new rules requiring brokerages and financial platforms to proactively detect coordinated market manipulation (pump-and-dump, spoofing) that targets retail investors.
  • Mandate Social Media Removal: Force major social media companies (Meta, Alphabet) to immediately and permanently remove fraudulent investment advertisements that misuse the likenesses of Canadian public figures, political leaders, or government imagery.
  • Provide Victim Relief: Establish a national victim-support program offering counselling, legal guidance, and potential financial relief or compensation for those who have lost their life savings due to these large-scale online financial crimes.
The time for passing the buck is over. We need our leaders to recognize this financial crisis, act to recover stolen funds, and save Canadians from future victimization.
