Insurance companies in our state are exploiting insurance coverage loopholes to the detriment of policyholders. This malpractice leaves many without the coverage they believed they were paying for, causing undue financial stress and burden. A 2019 report from the Insurance Information Institute reveals that out of all consumer complaints about insurance, 59% were regarding denial of a claim or delay in claim handling, often a result of technicalities and hidden loopholes. (Source: Insurance Information Institute). This percentage is alarmingly high, making it clear how dire the issue is. It is incumbent upon our state authorities to take necessary measures to end this inappropriate use of coverage loopholes by insurers. More transparency is needed in insurance policies to ensure that consumers gain what they're promised and aren't preyed upon based on lack of knowledge.
