Indiana lawmakers should represent voters—not cut secret deals to protect their own power.

While in Washington on August 26, Republican leaders in Indiana’s legislature met behind closed doors with former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance to discuss redrawing Indiana’s congressional maps.

These backroom discussions are laying the groundwork for a mid-cycle redistricting scheme—one that could further tilt Indiana’s 7–2 Republican congressional advantage even more.

Redistricting is supposed to happen once a decade—not whenever it’s politically convenient. This move isn’t about fairness, representation, or democracy. It’s about locking in power before the 2026 midterms—and silencing Indiana voters who deserve a voice in competitive districts.

We, the undersigned, demand that Indiana legislators:

• Reject any mid-decade redistricting attempt not ordered by a court
• Hold public hearings and involve citizens in the process
• Commit to transparency and fair district boundaries
   

Hoosiers deserve elections where voters choose their leaders—not where politicians choose their voters.
