Hello everyone,

Thank you all for sending your emails, tweets, and Instagram posts to NSW Attorney General, Mark Speakman, and for celebrating World Afro Day with me! Over the last week, there have been some exciting developments. Rose Jackson, NSW MLC expressed her support for the campaign and invited me to the State Parliament to meet with her.

Ms. Jackson was very impressed with our efforts to raise awareness of this discrimination still occurring in Independent schools. She explained to me the complexities involved in bringing about legal change, and the importance of putting pressure on our local MPs.

Excitingly, Ms. Jackson raised the issue in Parliament and questioned the Minister for Education, Sarah Mitchell, about her plans to stop hair discrimination in NSW schools. I'm so grateful for her support.

We need the support of many more members of the state Parliament to strengthen our campaign, and this is a wonderful start.

Truly, this is a massive development for us all and it wouldn’t have been possible without your support! Please continue sharing the petition, to help us reach 25,000 signatures.

Thank you.
