Stop Inappropriate Building in Pattiesmuir Conservation Area. Moratorium on building more.

The Issue

I, a concerned resident of Limekilns, am writing this petition to address a grave error made by the Fife Planning department. It has come to my attention that Premier Homes Scotland Ltd managed to slip through non-material variations that have significantly impacted the construction at Pattiesmuir Poppyfields.

This designated conservation area was meant to preserve the unique character and charm of the hamlet. However, these changes have compromised the integrity of our community and its historical significance. It is crucial that we take immediate action to halt any further building work until this mistake is rectified.

The alterations approved by the planning department include an increase in building height by 1.3 meters, changes in building materials from traditional red pan tiles to generic grey standard tiles commonly found on new kit build housing estates, modifications in wall coverings, and even the use of PVC windows. These alterations are not only aesthetically displeasing but also completely out of sync with the vernacular architecture of our conservation area.

This petition is personal to me because I live in Limekilns and understand firsthand how vital it is for us as a community to protect our heritage. If we allow these deviations from planning regulations at Pattiesmuir Poppyfields, it sets a dangerous precedent for future developments across all villages within Fife.

It is essential that we stand together as residents who care deeply about preserving our cultural identity and architectural heritage. By signing this petition, you are sending a clear message demanding accountability from both Premier Homes Scotland Ltd and the Fife Planning department.

We urge Premier Homes Scotland Ltd:
1) To immediately cease any further construction work at Pattiesmuir Poppyfields until all non-material variations are addressed.
2) To rectify their mistakes by reverting back to original plans or proposing alternative solutions that align with the conservation area's architectural style.
3) To engage in open and transparent communication with the Pattiesmuir community, ensuring our concerns are heard and taken into account.

Together, let us protect the integrity of our village and prevent further degradation of our cherished historical sites. Sign this petition today to demand a moratorium on building work at Pattiesmuir Poppyfields until these mistakes are rectified.

I was made aware of the issues of nearby hamlet Pattiesmuir by the Twitter feed @PoppyfieldsP I live in nearby village of Limekilns and knew there was building work approved for new homes. What I didn’t realise was that the developer had made multiple NMVs increasing the size and scale of the houses, while changing materials so as to not fit in with the rest of the hamlet which is designated conservation area.
