The construction work currently underway in our building has directly affected every resident.

Tenants have experienced repeated privacy intrusions, with workers looking into windows and disrupting the quiet enjoyment of our homes. 

The use of exterior plastic sheeting has failed to contain dust and debris, compromising indoor air quality and triggering health concerns.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In some instances, essential amenities, including air conditioning, have malfunctioned, and safety concerns have arisen about access to fire escapes during ongoing work. These conditions collectively diminish our sense of security, privacy, and comfort in what should be a safe, healthy living environment.

” [Air conditioner] vents and windows [remaining] sealed during intervals where no work is being done, or even over weekends [is extremely concerning]. I’m concerned about the lack of adequate ventilation during times [work has concluded for the day], because my health needs include access to fresh air to [prevent] asthma [as well as] heart problems. I’m also concerned about the extra cost of running my air conditioner.
Is there a time we will address how to get fresh air whenever feasible?”

If the issues noted above are not addressed with a clear, detailed plan and meaningful protections, residents face ongoing privacy violations, increased health risks from dust and debris, and persistent disruptions to daily life. The lack of transparent communication and accountability risks eroding trust between tenants and building management, and may lead to longer-term declines in housing quality and property well-being. Conversely, implementing a comprehensive renovation plan with explicit timelines, robust safety measures, and tenant protections will restore safe living conditions, protect privacy, reduce health hazards, and improve overall satisfaction and stability for all residents.

Immediate action is essential to halt ongoing harms and prevent further deterioration of living conditions. We request a formal acknowledgment of this petition, a publicly shared scope and timeline of the renovation and a concrete plan that prioritizes tenant safety, privacy, and well-being. By acting now, Management can demonstrate accountability, restore trust, and ensure that residents are informed partners in the renovation process. We urge prompt engagement, including a scheduled meeting with tenant representatives, to establish a transparent path forward by Monday, September 22, 2025.

We urge you to provide a clear, detailed plan of action, outline steps to address privacy, safety, and living-condition concerns, and share the Tenant Protection Plan with ALL residents. Timely response by September 22, 2025 is essential to safeguarding our community’s well-being and ensuring a fair, transparent process as it pertains to the ongoing construction.
