Stop ID Fraud: Establish a Restricted National Name Change Tracking System Fraud

The Issue

The impact of identity theft is devastating, leaving victims feeling defenseless, broken, and robbed of their personal identity. I'm one of those people who has experienced this violation—a loss of my own sense of self, shattered dreams, and the constant burden of having to rebuild my life's integrity in the face of deceit. It's a situation that leaves one feeling hopeless, as there is currently no substantial precautionary measure to protect our identities against such theft.

The rise in identity theft, now at an all-time high, demands immediate nationwide attention. The current system fails to safeguard innocent citizens like me from violent gangs exploiting our identities for criminal activities. These criminals commit crimes in our names, jeopardizing our lives further by leaving deceitful trails that can implicate us in serious offenses without our knowledge.

A crucial first step in combating this alarming issue is establishing a nationwide online registry for name changes. This registry will serve multiple purposes. Most importantly, it will create a transparent system enabling easier identification of fraudulent activity linked to name changes. By enabling better tracking and verification of names, authorities can more swiftly intercept and mitigate identity theft attempts.

Crucially, this registry is NOT for public use. It would operate as a security and investigative tool, providing highly restricted access solely to:

Victims of Identity Theft (via police report): To see that their name was changed and specifically the courthouse that processed the name change, enabling the victim to properly contact the jurisdiction to address the fraud.

Law Enforcement and Investigators: To aid in official investigations and facilitate background checks, specifically revealing that a name change has occurred and the jurisdiction where it was filed.

Furthermore, we urgently need the formation of an improved and efficient gang task force. This task force should prioritize transparency in its operations and work closely with both state and federal levels to combat organized crime that targets and exploits our identities. Enhanced monitoring, data analysis, and inter-agency collaboration must become core components of this task force’s strategy.

Additionally, we must address inefficiencies in our current court systems. Any court filings related to civil cases, incompetence, or identity theft should mandate in-person proceedings unless extenuating circumstances apply. This ensures that these serious matters are treated with the gravitas they deserve, and enables those affected to have a direct, tangible presence in defending their situations.

The gravity of identity theft cannot be ignored any longer. Our system needs reform to protect us, to ensure that our identities cannot be easily manipulated or stolen. Sign this petition to urge lawmakers to act urgently—there's no time to waste when it comes to the security of our identity and peace of mind. Your support is a step towards a safer, more secure future for all of us. Sign now to make your voice heard!
