Common red soldier beetle on duty

Areas where bracken has been controlled plants previously smothered and suppressed are emerging bringing a new diversity to the common.

Here a common red soldier beetle is pictured on a brilliant yellow flower of the much maligned common ragwort which is a food source and home to a range of invertebrates.
