History and heritage on Hunworth Common

A Screw Picket for the barbed wire security perimeter established when coastal defence artillery guns were located on the common in 1940 in anticipation of possible Nazi landings on the Norfolk coast.....

There are several around the common still standing guard and this is one which still has some of the barbed wire in place is within the proposed mast site and would be destroyed.
