Das Problem
It is unimaginable the suffering that animals endure in many tourist regions of Egypt and other Arabic and North African countries. Horses, camels, donkeys, and other animals are being subjected to brutality right on the streets, in public view. These animals are beaten, starved, and left to suffer without care or compassion, all for the sake of tourism. The sight of dying, badly injured animals being whipped to carry tourists in carriages or for rides is a disgraceful reality. This is not just an incident but a systemic issue that is tarnishing our shared humanity.
Western European countries, as well as US, Canadian, and Australian tourists, must refuse to support this kind of cruelty. Contemporary tourists and modern tourism agencies have a moral obligation to act and to project tourism that respects both people and animals. This is why I, along with countless like-minded individuals, cannot and will not stay silent anymore.
Tourism should be about creating lasting memories, sparking cultural exchanges, and celebrating the beauty of various parts of our world. It should not come at the expense of the lives and well-being of animals forced to endure such hardship. Let us redefine the tourism industry and let compassion be at the heart of our travel experiences.
To the governments of Egypt and the countries of North Africa, we urge immediate legislative reforms and strict enforcement of animal welfare laws. These animals need rescue, rehabilitation, and protection. Adoption of international standards and practices that prioritize the well-being of tourism animals is crucial.
By signing this petition, you are standing against animal abuse in tourism and urging governments and tourism operators to create policies that ensure the humane treatment of all animals involved in tourism. Let's unite our voices to create change and be the driving force behind ethical tourism. Sign this petition and make a difference today.
