I am deeply moved to start this petition due to the trauma experienced by countless individuals worldwide. These are people who have been victims of honor killings and apostate executions under Sharia law, a practice that has caused immense pain and suffering.

Honor killings, the murder of a family member for perceived violations of honor, often related to sexual behavior or beliefs that challenge traditional norms, are tragically common in many societies. According to Human Rights Watch, thousands of women are killed each year in the name of 'honor.' Similarly distressing is the execution of apostates - those who choose to renounce their faith - which is considered a capital offense under strict interpretations of Sharia law.

These practices violate fundamental human rights principles enshrined in international law including the right to life, freedom from torture or cruel treatment, and freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
