Stop government overreach on cannabis seeds and genetics
The Issue
I'm a 60-year-old in remission for 8 months from adenocarcinoma cancer of the appendix and owe my recovery largely to cannabis products. I was gifted RSO treatments last year, and with this, coupled with surgery, my cancer regressed to Stage 2 and I've been in remission since. However, with recent changes in the law, I'm struggling to maintain my supply of this essential medicine. We, the people, had voted and won our rights to these treatments, only to have them jeopardized by government interference. This plant and herb, which played a crucial role in my healing, should not be criminalized or controlled.
It is imperative that we address the government overreach when it comes to the legality of seed and genetics. Cannabis has provided countless patients with relief, healing, and hope. By criminalizing its seeds and genetics, we are essentially denying people a natural and effective treatment that they have voted for and have found to be beneficial.
The statistics bear witness to the incredible benefits of cannabis. According to a 2020 study published in the Journal of Cannabis Research, patients with cancer and chronic pain consistently report significant improvements in their quality of life due to cannabis use. Furthermore, a survey by the National Institute on Drug Abuse indicates that 62% of medical cannabis users reported a reduction in their symptoms. With such overwhelming evidence supporting its benefits, why should access be restricted?
We propose that the government re-evaluates its stance on the illegality of cannabis seeds and genetics. Legislative changes are needed to ensure that the will of the people is respected, and accessible treatment options are preserved. Lawmakers should work with healthcare professionals and patient advocacy groups to develop fair and comprehensive regulations that protect both access to cannabis and the rights of individuals seeking alternative medical treatments.
I urge you to consider the impact of these unjust restrictions on those whose lives, like mine, have been changed for the better by cannabis. Your support can make a difference for countless others who deserve the same opportunity for healing and quality of life.
Please sign this petition to demand change and protect our right to access cannabis seeds and genetics, thereby safeguarding our personal freedom to choose effective medical treatments.
