Stop Global Warming and Save Animals by Taking Action Today!
The Issue
Global warming is a worldwide problem, and we humans need to take action now before it is too late.
According to NASA scientists, the large amount of greenhouse gases that have been released into the Earth's atmosphere in the last 100 years have caused an increase in our planet's surface temperature. This global warming is increasing at a rapid rate because of us humans.
As we burn fossil fuels, like coal and petroleum in our factories and vehicles, the CO2 (carbon dioxide) and other greenhouse gas emissions go into our atmosphere and create a barrier that traps the sun's rays and heat and makes our planet hotter.
This increase in temperature greatly affects animals. Hotter temperatures in the Arctic are melting the ice and preventing polar bears from traveling across the ice to hunt and survive. Polar bears are starving and may soon become extinct.
The warmer ocean waters are killing the coral reefs.
The hotter temperatures are also affecting animals such as cheetahs. Hotter temperatures are creating droughts and decreasing the growth of vegetation. Animals that cheetahs hunt for survival, such as gazelles, are not as plentiful because they don't have the food (vegetation) and water they also need to survive.
Is there something YOU can do? YES! It might seem too big of an issue for us to stop, but it isn't! Much of our electricity and heat are powered by coal, oil, and gas, but there are things we can do now in our own homes and community to help stop the effects of global warming.
Please join me in signing this petition and making a pledge to do one or more of these simple things that can help fight global warming and save innocent animals:
1). Choose locally grown food (buy fruits and vegetables that are in season) to lower fossil fuel emissions from vehicles used to transport the fruit and vegetables.
2). Unplug your devices and electronics (including chargers) when you are not using them.
3). Reduce the use of plastics by using a reusable water bottle and grocery bags.
4). Walk, bike, carpool, or take public transportation whenever possible.
5). If possible, switch to solar panels for electricity, and/or an electric vehicle for transportation.
6). If possible, consume less meat (to reduce greenhouse gases, such as methane, from cattle).
7). Support local parks and green spaces and, if possible, plant a tree (to cool the Earth's surface temperature and release good oxygen into our atmosphere).
Thank you!
