Stop Gender Neutral Bathrooms at Our School

Stop Gender Neutral Bathrooms at Our School
The Issue
When we go to one of the bathrooms, it’s usually full of vapers, and we don’t like that. We opt for the other bathroom instead, where we feel more at ease. However, if the school implements gender-neutral bathrooms, we will be left without a comfortable option. There will be people of the other gender in the gender-neutral bathroom, and the other bathroom will still be dominated by vapers. This situation leaves us feeling uncomfortable and unsafe.
There is a push to introduce gender-neutral bathrooms in our school next year. While understanding the importance of inclusivity, it's vital to also consider the comfort and safety of all students. Many of us feel uneasy about the prospect of sharing our restroom space with all genders. We fear a loss of privacy and security, and worry about potential misuse of these facilities.
Evidence suggests that over 25% of students have expressed discomfort and concern about these proposed changes. Safety in schools is paramount, and we believe there is a real risk that these changes could exacerbate issues rather than alleviate them.
Alternative solutions could meet the needs of all students. One option is to provide a single-occupant, gender-neutral bathroom, alongside maintaining gender-specific restrooms. This would accommodate those who seek gender neutrality while also respecting the needs of those who prefer traditional facilities.
Our voices matter, and the administration should take all student perspectives into account. By signing this petition, you support a call to keep our gender-specific restrooms, ensuring that all students have a safe and comfortable place to go.
