It's an exciting day as this evening I'll join FTC Commissioners that have worked hard to break up monopolies and a life-saving group of advocates to be the voice of all 230,000 supporters of this petition and the many patients that I've connected with across our nation. I'll speak in support of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTCs) and both democrats and republican's efforts to break up the health insurance and healthcare monopolies and end the abusive practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) Optum RX, CVS Caremark, and Express Scripts.
When we first get the letters from the insurance company or their pharmacy benefit managers that tell us that we cannot use our choice of pharmacy and can ONLY use the mail order or retail pharmacy often affiliated with the insurance company or pharmacy benefit manager, we know it's not right. It is very monopolistic, and today we have an opportunity to amplify our voices to say "END THESE MONOPOLIES!"
