In the silence, we often hear our loudest thoughts. Today is one of those quiet moments, filled with behind-the-scenes activity. I wish I could share everything I've uncovered on this beautiful yet sometimes heartbreaking journey. The tragedy isn't just in the stories we hear from the public, but also in the reality of what we are up against to ensure that America's children and all patients have access to safe medications and local pharmacies.
Despite the weight of these challenges, there is hope thanks to people like you—supporters of this petition and dedicated advocates for change. Your commitment makes a difference.
If you're able, please join us at Optum's headquarters on Friday, September 13th, from 9 a.m. to noon in Eden Prairie, MN. Your presence would mean a lot. Please register here. Optum, one of the largest mail order pharmacies and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) in the nation, uses its power to push patients towards its own mail order pharmacies while reimbursing competitors or local pharmacies purposefully below cost. Additionally, Optum has merged with UnitedHealthcare which is an insurance company.
If you cannot join us, you may also help by making a donation or by sharing your story about why ensuring patient choice of pharmacy is important to you. My email is loretta@uniteforsafemeds.com
Thank you,
