Express Scripts, Optum RX, and CVS Caremark are all pharmacy benefit managers or PBMs that merged with insurance companies. Next, they merged with the pharmacies that they force or steer people to. They are monopolizing the industry and removing local pharmacy access for many. As they also reimburse their own competitors so low that many ends in the red, pharmacy deserts erupt across the United States.
Recently, I retweeted the following tweet from Elizabeth Jacobs, PhD:
This is our chance.
We need your voice. We need your help.
So many of you have shared your horror stories on the petition. You may read through the comments left on this petition and find many patients suffering. Some will not be brave or strong enough physically enough to speak, which is why we need those who are brave to help share their stories.
Let's share our issues and concerns with the Federal Trade Commission or FTC, which is tasked with "protecting the public from deceptive or unfair business practices and from unfair methods of competition through law enforcement, advocacy, research, and education."
It may not be my story that changes things; it may be yours! Save lives and break the silence.
Let's do this!
Thank you,
Loretta Boesing, Patient Advocate
