Thank you to all of our supporters! Thank you to NPR & KCUR. I will give a special thank you to Alex at KCUR. Thank you to Change.org. People will eventually know that FORCED mail-order pharmacy has many risks. We must go back to ensuring patients have OPTIONS to get their medications the safest way, through the hands of their trusted pharmacist.
The issue with temperatures is one of the first that gained my attention, but our supporters have taught me that there are over 100 risks. Getting the word out to warn others and hopefully save lives is crucial. Next, we must continue to unite to protect patients & ensure that face-to-face relationships are an option in our pharmaceutical care.
Again though this excellent reporting, we learn two different facts. One, it is possible that our son's medications could have been affected by the triple-digit weather which could have resulted in his life being taken away. Two, the reason why these risks are taken is that more temperature monitoring would drive up the cost of MAIL-ORDER PHARMACY (Smith, 2018).
I wanted to let you know also that I found out that Adam Fein has been paid thousands of dollars by express scripts as a consultant. Notice he didn't say there was no harm. He said there is NO WIDESPREAD harm, but I am finding THOUSANDS of people suffering from issues with mail-order every single day and it's not only because of temperatures. Many lives are at risk and many are suffering. This is why people could have this as an option, but this should never be forced.
Next, I say to the pharmacy benefit managers who determine access and who often only give us ONLY coverage to their owned mail order pharmacy, give us access in our coverage to our pharmacy who doesn't make us take this extra risk and the many other risks that mail order pharmacy poses.
Please share NPR's story to raise awareness and say thank you to NPR for caring!
You all are amazing!!! Have a wonderful day!
