Kenya banned FGM in 2011. However the data that speaks to those who have undergone FGM is to say the least alarming. According to the United Nations, in Kenya around 4 million women and girls have been subjected to FGM. 
The report further adds that  one in five Kenyan women between 15 and 49 years old have been circumcised. Activists  have observed that more needs to be done to reach the U.N. goal to end FGM worldwide by 2030. 

Only recently a girl from Kuria, to protect her identity let's call her Gati*, was abducted by her brother after returning home from a rescue centre to collect personal effects and subjected to forceful FGM in the forest. The horrific act has left her mutilated let alone scarred and traumatized. Gati was later taken to hospital having lost a vast amount of blood. 

This petition demands:

1. The perpetrators of the heinous FGM on Gati be arrested and charged.
2. The local area chiefs be held accountable for FGM incidences happening within their jurisdiction.
3. Unequivocal enforcement of the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act 2011
