Stop False Complaints Against Community Dogs

Stop False Complaints Against Community Dogs
The Issue
Community dogs are an integral part of our neighborhoods. They are often sterilized, vaccinated, and cared for by residents, making them friendly and safe. However, there has been a disturbing rise in people filing false “aggressive dog” complaints with the sole intention of removing or harming these animals.
This practice is not only cruel but also a misuse of legal systems. False accusations endanger the lives of innocent, harmless animals and traumatize caregivers who treat them as family. Moreover, India’s animal welfare laws — including Article 51A(g) of the Constitution, Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and multiple High Court/SC rulings — protect the right of community dogs to live peacefully in their territories.
We, the undersigned, demand:
Criminal liability for individuals who knowingly make false or fabricated “aggressive dog” complaints.
Strict enforcement of animal welfare laws to protect sterilized and vaccinated community dogs.
Recognition that caregivers who feed, vaccinate, and sterilize these dogs are performing a public service, not a nuisance.
Action against any authority or officer who unlawfully removes or harms community dogs without due cause and proper verification.
Our dogs are not a threat. They are part of our families and communities. Those who misuse the system to spread hate and violence should face the consequences — because false complaints are not just lies, they are cruelty.
By signing this petition, you stand up for compassion, law, and justice for the voiceless.
