My previous update contains one inaccuracy. The date for the alleged transfer of UK elvers to Belorus should have read 2024, not 2023. There was a delivery around April 16th if my memory serves me well, when the UK Glass Eels plane stayed in Kaliningrad for an unusually long time. (

The minister continues to sit on his decision for reasons that are hard to fathom, but time is running out for the elver trader and there are very few elvermen still hoping to fish. Those applying to the Environment Agency for fishing permits are being turned away. The fishery closing date anyway is the 20th of April.
