Hello All,

It’s been nearly a month since our last update, but in that time we have been very busy. Our petition was delivered to the USDA in Washington, DC on Oct. 10th. Together with agricultural organizations, like Farm Aid, Rural Advancement Foundation International-USA (RAFI-USA), National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC), Government Accountability Project (GAP), and Organization for Competitive Markets (OCM), we collected more than 86,000 total signatures. Supporters urged the USDA to craft a strong rule that ensures protections for farmers, livestock, consumers, and the environment. 

We want to thank you for your support and words of encouragement. However, the fight isn’t over. This petition was only the start of our campaign. In the coming weeks, the USDA will release a proposed version of this rule. Once posted, the USDA will accept comments on this rule for 60 days. When that happens, we need you to make your voice heard!

We will post a link where you can make a comment on this rule. It is important that we all comment on this rule because we know Industry will. The USDA takes comments on these rules very seriously. We’ve been fighting for farmer protections for a long time. Each time a rule has been proposed that could help farmers Industry stuffs the comment box with boilerplate statements copy and pasted over and over again. Their comments make Industry sound like innocent Mom & Pop, Main Street USA businesses at the mercy of trial lawyers. We know this couldn’t be further from the truth!

These corporations make massive profits at the expense of farmers, animals, and rural communities. That’s why when the USDA begins accepting comments we need you to tell them to stand up for farmers and stop protecting Industry.
