We call on the UK Government to ban the import of exotic animals for the pet trade — including both wild-caught and captive-bred animals.

Britain has always prided itself on being a nation of animal lovers. Yet every year, thousands of exotic animals are shipped into the UK to be sold in pet shops and online — many taken from the wild, others bred overseas in conditions we’d never allow here. They arrive stressed, poorly handled, and often die within weeks.

This trade puts animal welfare, public health, and our native wildlife at risk. We’re not talking about cats and dogs. We’re talking about geckos, monkeys, snakes, parrots — wild animals that belong in the wild. Not in glass tanks in living rooms.

It’s time to take a stand. Britain should not be importing animals from foreign farms or rainforests to be sold as pets. Let’s close the door on this damaging trade and protect our country from the consequences.
