Issuing heavy and illegal sentences against detained citizens in Iran continues. On Tuesday, January 3rd, the Supreme Court of Iran confirmed the death sentence of Mohammad-Mahdi Karami and Seyed-Mohammad Hosseini.
Hamid Qarahasanlou, Hossein Mohammadi and Reza Aria's death sentences have been annulled due to "defects in research".
Ali Sharifzadeh, Mohammad Hosseini's lawyer, on December 18th, after meeting his client in Karaj prison, wrote on his Twitter, referring to his torture: "His story was full of tears from torture, beatings while blindfolded, his hands and feet tied, they kicked him in the head until he was unconscious, with an iron rod they shocked him on the soles of his feet and different parts of the body."
He had emphasized that Hosseini's confessions were under torture and have no legal basis.
In our petition we emphasize that these sham trials, tortures, and forced confessions are in direct violation of Iran's own constitution:
The right to choose a lawyer (Article 35)
The right to use the principle of innocence (principle 37)
Prohibition of torture and coercion to confess and testify in court (principle 38)
Prohibition of insulting the detainee and prisoner (principle 39)

حمید قرهحسنلو، حسین محمدی و رضا آریا به دلیل «نقص در تحقیقات»، نقض شده است
علی شریفزاده، وکیل محمد حسینی، روز ۲۷ آذر، پس از دیدار با موکلش در زندان کرج در توییترش با اشاره به شکنجه شدن او نوشت: «روایتش همه اشک بود از شکنجه، ضرب و شتم با چشم و دست و پای بسته تا لگد به سر و بیهوشی، از میله آهنی به کف پا و شوکر در قسمتهای مختلف بدن.»
او تاکید کرده بود اقرارهای حسینی تحت شکنجه بوده و وجاهت قانونی ندارد
