I am an ardent fan of the NFL, just like millions across the country. However, the recent trend of exclusively airing playoff games on streaming platforms has left me and many others feeling sidelined. This move is not only unfair to fans with limited resources but also those who have limited technology capabilities. Our love for the game should not be measured by our ability to access or afford high-speed internet.

This shift towards exclusive online broadcasting also disproportionately affects certain demographics such as young fans who may not have their own devices, older fans who may struggle with technology, and under-resourced fans for whom a stable internet connection is a luxury rather than a given.

According to Statista, in 2020 around 19 million households in America did not have broadband internet service (source: Statista). This means that potentially millions of NFL fans are being excluded from watching playoff games due to this new broadcasting strategy.

We call upon the National Football League and its broadcasting partners to reconsider this approach and ensure that all playoff games are accessible through traditional television broadcasts as well as streaming platforms. The joy of watching our favorite teams compete in crucial matches should be universal and unrestricted by technological or financial barriers.
