Stop Excessive Aircraft Noise in Loudoun County Residential Areas

Stop Excessive Aircraft Noise in Loudoun County Residential Areas
The Issue
UPDATE: This successful petition led to Loudoun County funding the Runway 30 Aircraft Mitigation Noise Project. Follow the project's updates at LoudounRunway30Project.com.
The Loudoun Aircraft Noise Mitigation Committee (LANMC) was formed in 2022 as a citizens association to represent the more than 59,000 property owners who are affected by Loudoun County's updated Airport Impact Overlay District (AIOD). This AIOD affects more than a third of Loudoun's residents and is based on the updated noise map created by Dulles International Airport in late 2019, a noise map that is not based on current or even near-term reality and it is not recognized by the FAA.
Instead, the airport has created a noise map based on its stretch goals of being the largest airport in the world, ever. It is projecting noise from 1 million annual flights, when currently it has less than 300,000 annual flights and isn't even in the top 20 airports in the world. But Loudoun's residents would pay the price NOW in terms of zoning and property rights changes for something that may never happen at Dulles.
We are pro-Dulles, but we share a determination to protect and preserve the safety, value, and quality of life for residents who live near Dulles Airport. We believe Loudoun County should work with Dulles Airport and the FAA to create a Noise Compatibility Program that will allow the airport to grow while simultaneously protecting the peaceful enjoyment of the homeowners who live nearby.
