(The following was written without ChatGPT, etc.)

Hello -

In these updates, I've spoken often about existential concerns and worst case scenarios that could arise with the wide distribution of humanoid robots. However, we can expect that much of the practical difficulty will be found in how we navigate the gray areas - where the technology is justifiable and even ideal.

An obvious, serious gray area, for example, is in how - say - medical or service robots are entirely different than, say, police robots. And where I think most of us would find it easy to protest humanoid robots as they run around in the streets, I don't know how a modern person could ever be OK protesting (let alone have a need to protest) robotic limbs for veterans - even though such tools would be off-shoots of the same technological innovations.

These dilemma points require our full and continued attention - and discussion. (Go Unite [the Utah based nonprofit 'backing' this petition] is in the process of creating regular community forums that hybridize podcast style discussion with something like the County Commissioners Office. Advanced robotics, so-called 'artificial intelligence,' and other topics will hopefully be addressed at these forums. All this to say -- ) I believe any discussion of this variety will need to be a regular and organized occurrence if it's to have any chance of staying on top of these important, and oftentimes deeply personal edge cases.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Sincerely,

Michael Christensen-
