We did it! After putting pressure on board member de Siegrist through a potential voter recall campaign, meetings were arranged to bring an end to this threat to ending her tenure on the El Monte Union High School Board. Mrs. de Siegrist voted to abstain from the vote in June to extend the lease of Pasadena City College. This ended PCCs lease. They moved out of the Rosemead Center owned by the district on June 30th. This returned the property back to EMUHSD for its own use. The El Monte-Rosemead Adult School began the process of moving back into the building. A proposal by board member Ricardo Padilla to spend $25 million dollars to build a new Adult Transition Center on the high school campus of Mountain View was voted down 3 to 2 with Mrs. de Siegrist providing the deciding vote. Next, the school board unanimously voted to return to the district's original plan to include a new Adult Transition Center for adult special needs students to the Rosemead Center, where it was meant to be by the district and the previous board. It took the hard work and the efforts of parents, teachers, community members, students, and other caring people who saw the situation as one that needed a remedy that would put the students of the El Monte Union High School District, particularly the Adult Transition students and adult school students, first. We are happy and thankful to Mrs. de Siegrist for seeing the error of her ways by making this victory happen with her votes. Thank you to all the supporters of this petition. Your help and support mattered.
