Actualización de la peticiónStop DVA from stripping veterans of the right to choose their own doctor

Your pressure is working!

Today, DVA has been forced to walk back the $5,000 allied health cap.

It has announced a consultation with veterans. And it is now calling the cap a “review threshold”.

That is a step in the right direction.

But DVA and Minister Keogh need to explain why this consultation did not happen before the cap was announced in the Federal Budget, causing so much anxiety for veterans and their families.

DVA is now saying it will complete reviews for additional care within 28 days.

This from a Department already struggling to meet its own processing targets.

And there is another serious question.

Who decides whether your ongoing treatment is “clinically appropriate”, and can DVA overrule the trusted clinician already treating you?

Veterans have already had enough of being funnelled towards government-contracted providers and having their claims low-balled.

This is becoming a tangled mess.

There is a much simpler solution:

Scrap the cap.
End the low-balling.
Fix the system.
