Stop Dollar General on US-52 / Brookville & Kitley Rd
The Issue
*** YOU MUST SHOW UP IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE: The public meeting will be held on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16th at 1:00 pm in the Beurt SerVass Public Assembly Room on the second floor of the City County Building located at 200 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204. ***
We as your fellow neighbors want to bring to your attention that Dollar General is wanting to put a store at the corner of 52/Brookville Road and 800/CarrolL Road, just east of Muessing and Kitley Roads, and south of Nicolai Rd. Approximate address is 11805 Brookville Road.
This will not be good for our property values and can attract undesirable behavior as Dollar Generals are known to have a higher frequency of robberies, trash, and even murders, etc. Between 2014 and 2021 more than 150 people were killed by gun violence at Dollar General stores. Another 329 were injured. This type of retail is targeted for armed robbery and the residents in this area do not want to fall victim to this violence. Such a business in our neighborhood will deteriorate the property values of long-standing residents who have invested money and time to sustain a well-kept crime free neighborhood for the safety of their families. Additional concerns include excessive litter and exacerbating traffic. The Dollar General Store chain is proliferating areas at an unprecedented rate. We currently have (14) Dollar General stores exist within an eight-mile radius and another is not needed.
If you are not in favor of this we encourage you to PLEASE submit letters of your appeal ASAP to:
Metropolitan Development Commission 200 East Washington Street, Suite 1842 Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 AND include case number 2023-CZN-844/2023-CPL-844
The public meeting will be held on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16th at 1:00 pm in the Beurt SerVass Public Assembly Room on the second floor of the City County Building located at 200 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
